Raising the profile of the Indian Ocean

io logo web1 Raising the profile of the Indian OceanGAP PR have enjoyed a long working relationship with Indian Ocean, who have just celebrated their 18th birthday. The Tameside restaurant is enormously successful, with rafts of awards under its belt, and is heavily involved in the local community.

The highlight of our work for the Indian Ocean is in its social media strategy and development. This was recently recognised in our2011 SCA Shortlist button small 150x126 Raising the profile of the Indian Ocean nomination for Some Comms Best Low Budget Campaign award for our creation and management of the Indian Ocean’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. The Facebook page is used to great effect and has over 1000 fans, with lots of interaction. We run popular weekly competitions to win meals at the restaurant and have topical conversations to engage customers, drive footfall and increase loyalty to the restaurant. Its popularity has led to special nights held at the restaurant exclusively for Facebook fans.

Twitter is similarly employed to spread the word about promotions and upcoming events, and to create brand awareness and conversation. Booking enquiries are frequently taken through the Twitter page, which shows that social media, properly used, can translate to real business results.

We have coordinated various PR events at the restaurant, such as three successful Guinness World Record attempts (two for the tallest poppadom tower and another for the most naan breads baked in one hour!). All attempts garnered national press coverage from print and broadcast media.

The Indian Ocean’s extensive community Cooking with Kamran cropped Raising the profile of the Indian Oceaninvolvement is also something we are instrumental in. We have helped them to put on many charity nights and most recently assisted with an introduction to The Mustard Tree Foundation, a Manchester based homeless charity with whom the restaurant are now supporting.

We have also liaised with local schools to arrange cookery classes for pupils both at the restaurant and in the schools themselves. We have also entered the Indian Ocean for a range of awards, including the British Curry Awards for Best Indian Restaurant in the North West which they won in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and the inaugural English Curry Awards where they scooped North West Restaurant of the Year 2011. Media coverage for each of these awards has been extensive, on a regional and national level – quite a feat for an independent North West restaurant.

Events are a great way to boost your business’s influence and reputation locally and sometimes on a national scale.

Call us to discuss your requirements and we will be happy to advise on the appropriate event for your organisation.
