Launched two years ago and with 11.7 million unique users in January 2012, Pinterest is the fastest site in history to break the 10 million unique visitor mark. Average minutes on the site per visitor per month is also reported to be much higher than Twitter and LinkedIn but still well behind Facebook.

Women tend to be much more active on this new social media than men. 65% of Pinterest users are women, and they drive 85 percent of the traffic on the site. Pinterest’s target market is women between the ages of 25-54.

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a photo sharing website where users create and manage pinboards which are theme-based image collections. They have access to a “Pin It” button which users can “pin” a photo they find interesting on their pinboard. They can also download photos from their own collections too.

According to the creators, Pinterest’s aim is “to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting” so that it can “reveal a common link between two people”. Although there is no official “business” section on Pinterest, companies can create a profile to help them boost their brand awareness and drive more traffic to their blogs and websites.

So what are you waiting for to create your Pinterest profile? We did. Visit our Pinterest profile.

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Lake District branch of GAP PR and Marketing. Local PR Consultants Jo Spencer and Polly Winder will work in partnership with our Manchester based team and will head up the Cumbrian office, the second for GAP PR, founded in 2006 by current Managing Director Guy Parker.

Jo and Polly bring a wealth of media experience to the new venture. Polly has worked in television and radio stations across the North West, in addition to two years at the GAP PR office in Manchester, prior to moving back to her home in the Lakes to support her family business as Operations Director at the Wordsworth Hotel and Spa. Jo has worked in the marketing, media and communications industry for more than fifteen years, managing high profile events in London and Sydney and Corporate Events at FTSE 100 Company ITV plc in London before heading to the Lakes in 2006, where she has worked as a freelance PR & Marketing consultant and journalist.

“This collaboration enables us to provide the full range of services and resources provided by a City agency, yet retaining the individual feel and very personal service of a local office.” said Jo and Polly. “We are thrilled to be able to combine our skills and experience and hope to enable Cumbrian companies to realise marketing and communications as a very essential part of their business.”

Guy Parker said “We are exceptionally pleased to be opening a second office and expanding into Cumbria. Having Jo and Polly on board is a great asset to the Company. We welcome them to the team and look forward to a very successful relationship.”

Following the makeover of the KRO Bars & Restaurants Facebook page, the KRO Catering website also recently underwent a revamp. The refreshing new look, although branded separately from the restaurants, follows a similar clean navigation and layout, split into clearly defined sections, depending on event type.

As Manchester’s original Danish food and drink people, KRO Catering have established themselves as serious game players in the catering industry and their online presence needed to catch up and reflect this. The idea around the rework of the website was to emphasize the range of services KRO Catering can offer. The business has come a long way by continually adding to the range of services they can provide, as well as the size and type of events they can manage.

The KRO experience has been experienced at corporate events, private parties and festivals across the UK, often in the form of a pop-up bar. KRO Catering has set up camp in the fields of Somerset, running a food and beverage service at Glastonbury, while still running events closer to home, like the main hub bar at Manchester’s Oktoberfest and the VIP area at Pride festivals. The new website’s gallery offers a taste of the variety of events that KRO Catering can host and the service they could bring to your event.

Having catered for the Dutch Swimming team as well as launching the South West Manchester Cricket Club Beer Festival this year, KRO Catering are currently providing the Sale Sharks with a pop-up bar at each of their home matches. Catering can be provided on different scales and tapered to suit different budgets and details of the sorts of events that KRO Catering can hold for your local sports team, society or association can be found on the new site. They can even help you in plan and host your own event.

The various menu options offered by KRO Catering are now easily accessible through the clearly defined pages and with the countdown to the festive season now on, this section currently features KRO’s Christmas menu. There is also a booking section on the website, where initial information about your proposed event can be submitted to the Catering team, enabling them to give you as detailed a quote as possible. To see what KRO Catering can offer for your next product launch, team building day, networking event or private party please visit www.krocatering.co.uk
