GAP PR and Marketing’s Managing Director Guy Parker is taking part in the Trafford Sub-Aqua Club 24 hour Dive, to raise money for The British Heart Foundation.
On Friday, August 14th 2009, Guy and fifteen other divers from his local dive club supported by numerous others providing shore cover, will begin the relay dive at Eccleston Delph, which is a flooded quarry in Chorley. He and his buddy diver will do 6 dives over a 24 hour period, as will the five other buddy pairs.
The challenge requires two divers to remain on the 6 meter platform for the whole of the twenty four hours, so each diver will kit up and get in the water, every 3.5 hours. The divers will not move from the platform for safety reasons and they will be stationary throughout the dive. The event starts with the first 2 divers joining the platform at 8pm on 14/08/09 and will finish 24 hours later.
Guy Parker explains why he is taking part in such a huge task, “Two years ago our Equipment Officer, Phil Makin Sr, made a full recovery from a heart attack thanks to the research of the British Heart Foundation and the wonders of modern technology. Not everyone is so lucky as heart disease is Britain’s biggest killer, so as well as raising money for the BHF we want to draw awareness to an excellent cause. It’s also going to be great fun, on the Friday evening we will have a BBQ which anyone is welcome to attend.”
