After the riots and looting that plagued Manchester city centre in August KRO Bars & Restaurants joined the fight back.
Businesses all over the city were quick to react and support the ‘I ♥ MCR’ campaign taking place on Facebook and across the city.
The campaign was designed to show the world that we are proud of our city and that we stand united against shocking antisocial behaviour of the kind witnessed in the Summer. Manchester Airport featured the logo on its check-in screens, Manchester City Council erected giant billboards and local businesses displayed posters in their windows – all with the aim of making 26th August ‘I ♥ MCR’ Day.
It seems this campaign is set to run well beyond the duration of the clean up. You can get involved by downloading the ‘I ♥ MCR’ desktop wallpaper, setting the logo as your Facebook profile picture, or by buying an ‘I ♥ MCR’ t-shirt from the Arndale Centre or online from Visit Manchester. All proceeds from the sales of the t-shirts go to Forever Manchester and RECLAIM charities.
The response of ordinary Mancunians to what happened and their efforts to clean up the city, restoring its beauty and brilliance, has been overwhelming. KRO’s management and staff wish to thank everyone involved in the clear up operation and to those that have passed on well-wishes. A special thank you also goes to Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council. We live in a city to be proud of – let’s show the world that we know it!
